Stella go so bored just sitting around the house with nothing to do except clean or cook, or take care of the dogs. She hated just waiting around for something to happen or for someone to show up. Who was she kidding though? No one ever showed up. Unless it was for the mail or when Phillip got home. She was tired of it. She had gone out to treat herself to a mani pedi and a little shopping. She couldn’t let herself enjoy the shopping so much for herself, but for Christmas. She had bought presents and clothes for Phillip, then a few things for her brother and nephew in New York and then her grandparents. She had to do a gift for a charity place, she just sent a large flower bouquet to them. She felt refreshed after she had her mani pedi, after the shopping, no need to waste a good foot and hand massage just to stress over shopping. It was a reward to herself, even though she wasn’t sure if she deserved one.
she was actually feeling a little crummy, while she had been getting her toes done, she was in the middle of a calf massage when her brother called her. she was bubbly at first, but she could tell there was something wrong. when she asked him what was wrong, he explained that he and his wife, were getting a divorce. she couldn’t say she was surprised or disappointed, because honestly she hated her sister-in-law. the only good thing that came from their marriage was her nephew. she didn’t say this to him of course, but before the end of their conversation, at the end he was openly negative which she found hard to hear since she had never heard a negative thing from her brother (towards her) ”arranged marriages never work out…” he had mumbled, ”people only get hurt stella… get out while you can..” he added before hanging up without another word.
after that she was a little shaken up and she couldn’t really get it out of her mind. things were slowly getting better with phillip, but she had thought that he brother and his wife were friendly, they always seemed like it. of course so did her parents and her grandparents.. and she and phillip had always played off their marriage as friendly. she really didn’t want to think about it, but the nagging sensation was still there. she had to get boxes and wrapping paper, bows, and name stickers. she packed everything in the trunk of her car before she went to get coffee at a vender, she didn’t want to wait in a shop, she could get good coffee from a coffee cart.
