We can dance if we want to. We can leave your friends behind. Cause' your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance, so they're no friends of mine.

Peri N. Bates,

wow, are you my ...i completely lost track of time! well please sit sit, let me just move this stuff out of the way. okay, let's get started. tell me a little bit about yourself. Peri gave a slight smile to the interviewer. "it's completely fine.." she said softly as she walked in and sat down, where it was offered. it didn't take long for the questions to start. at least she was being started off easy. "I'm Peri Noelle Bates." she said simply. Yep, that was a good start. "I am a twenty-six year old professional dancer.. and model." she paused giving a small grin. "I know looking at me you wouldn't believe the dancing.. but i've been dancing for.. twenty-three years now.." she added with another grin. "my birthday is April 12th." she added, almost forgetting to mention her birthday. that's a lot of information. so tell me, where are you from? her head bobbed slightly as she thought about the question. "I am from Cannon Beach, Oregon." she answered, but thought to add more. "I've lived here in LA since I was ten." ahh fascinating ! well i'm from here, born and raised, never left. so many people that i know and love here, just couldn't leave them ! what about you? anyone you care dearly for here? she gave a small smile as she thought about the question. "I've been here for sixteen years... and I know quite a few people from dancing and modeling." she said with a small shrug. "my tattoo artist is an awesome guy... we don't have much to hide from each other, i've been getting tattoos since I was eighteen and he's done pretty much every one of them." she added. her tattoo artist was pretty awesome and she would consider him a good friend. "I do have two dogs... and they are the closest to family I have.. it kills me when I have to board them when I do dance tours." she said with a somewhat sad tone. "I have friends, but not lover... people frown upon the whole dating stipulations when you're in a dance career, you don't want a problem to come up where you might not be able to dance for nine or more months." she said with a small smirk. quite a list. must mean you have a juicy past, let's hear a little bit about it. she had to bite back the urge to roll her eyes. "honestly..my life is rather dull, even back when I was little." she said softly. "Actually.. I've been dancing ballet since I was three.." she said softly. "I think it sounds crazy to other people, but all I wanted to be when I was little was a dancer, and my mom didn't stand in my way." she said with a small laugh. she adjusted slightly as she looked at her hands thinking. "I was raised by my single mother... she was a great lady and probably busted her ass more than she needed to just to make sure I could dance at a ridiculously young age." she said softly. "We lived on the outskirts of Cannon Beach, Oregon, she drove me three times a week until I was seven to ballet practices, recitals and so many other things. At eight I moved up to five days a week practice.. my mom at that point told me if i was going to be dancer then i need to do all of it... tap, modern dance, ballroom dancing, all of it... it continued until I was seventeen.. Even though I moved to LA with my mom at ten, so I could have a better chance at dancing. I graduated early and was hired temporarily with a LA dance company.." She continued after a long pause. "My mom was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer when I was eighteen and she fought a long hard battle until I was twenty.." She looked down again as she fidgeted her eyes tearing up a little as she tried to suck it back down. "she died in May.. and.. well.. it's been six years." she let out a small sigh. "my first tattoo were two roses, my mom loved roses... after that.. and after i didn't get fired, i started on my back, angel wings... it was like a tribute, because my mother did so much for me.. and since I lost her, I couldn't really tell her how much I appreciated everything she had done for me.." her small shoulders shrugged and she thought for a moment. "I did tell her.. a lot about how I felt.. and how much I appreciated her and loved her.. so it wasn't a guilt tattoo." she added. "I was hired full time with the company and I won't say I'm the best.. but I guess I'm a "prima", I've been there the longest of the women and I typically get the leading female parts.." her thin shoulders shrugged. "I told you.. my life wasn't that interesting.." she said with a small laugh. "honestly, the most interesting part of me are my tattoos.. I can go through all the different ones, but that might take us far too long... a great deal of my body is covered." she added with a sly smile. you just get more and more interesting. is that a word that someone would describe you as? no? then what is something that people would say you are. peri couldn't help but grin softly. "Oh don't flatter me." she teased with a small flip of her hand. giving the interviewer a charmed smile. "I believe that interesting is a word that people would use.. but I also believe that they can come up with someone much more interesting." she said simply. she knew there were people that could call her weird, maybe she was, but there were other aspects about her. "Dedicated." most that knew her, knew she started her days the same way; she had a five hour practice in the mornings, six to eleven, then she hit the gym for two hours, working on her stretches, the treadmill, and kickboxing... some days she would switch it up with a spinning class or yoga. after a shower and a light lunch, she would either go to a modeling gig or do more practices, or if it was a show night, she would do a dress rehearsal and then rest.. or whatever else she had to do. "Independent" she had been on her own for six years now, truly on her own. she did her own thing, except for what she was supposed to do for the dancing. clearly she did her own thing with the tattoos, but she seriously was a good dancer. "Rebel" she didn't torch things or anything, but was a professional ballet dancer and she was covered with tattoos, granted most of her tattoos were covered during performances by her tights and leotards.. but she knew they were there. she dyed her hair sometimes. at the moment, it was purple, but she did enjoy the white blonde.. or pink.. she thought a little more, what would other people describe her as? "Busy" not only did she dance professionally and did practice six days a week, shows every few weeks, and modeling gigs whenever she had the time. Coffee was one of her best friends. She just didn't have that much time for a social life... even though she would work one in. do you agree with what people say about you? peri thought for a moment before she nodded her head. "I think I could agree with people." she said softly. "I don't like the people's judgment on my tattoos.. but they really don't matter." she said with a small smirk. in truth she prided herself on not really listening to people or what people thought about her. so this was something she had to think about. did she really agree with what people had to say about her? "Well, well first off I guess I could call myself dedicated. I've been dancing since I was three. Dancing ballet... I learned other styles, contemporary, ballroom, salsa, tango, and so on.. the only thing I haven't trained for is break dancing but I think I could give it a shot maybe.. if no one was watching me." she said the last comment with a bit of sarcasm. "So I'm dedicated... i can be stubborn, but you have to be, when you're in my line of work. it's cut throat. I'm only twenty-six and some of my fellow dancers think I'm too old to be dancing. I can be sarcastic, not the kind that think it's cool.. but because I'm so used to it I don't even realizing I'm doing it." she thought for a minute. "I know what you're thinking too. she's a dancer, so she must have an eating disorder. that's completely false. i usually get two days off a week, and when I'm not doing other things, I'll usually have the worst food ever, I really enjoy getting hotdogs.. or hamburgers..and Chinese food. And beer! But ahh.. yeah.. I'm a dedicated athlete." she said with a small laugh. "I'm flexible... if that.. counts or you know sparks an interest." she teased. "I like animals... but who doesn't? I don't really enjoy working out, but it's something I need to do and it helps me keep my head clear." She could only guess what people thought about her. So she just wanted to add what she thought of herself. She didn't have that much time for friends. "Well. I know that my fellow dancers hate me. I'm short. and I usually get a lot of stage time, like.. prima ballerina.. I'm the oldest there and I've been dancing longest of the females... and I'm a favorite.. I'm little and weigh nothing, so I'm easy to lift and toss." She shrugged again. she didn't know what else to say. "I don't have friends.. not a lot of them at least.. I'm either practicing or dancing or performing.. or sleeping.. you know the basics.. I know my priorities... I have my dogs though.. I have a bull terrier and a staffordshire terrier puppy ..and a little mutt.. I have a soft spot.. but shh don't tell anyone.. It's a funny story how I got him actually.." she paused, realizing this man didn't care. "Never mind.. but.. my dogs.. they love me because I walk them and feed them and spoil them.." she smirked a little before mumbling. "It's a bit depressing that my dogs are my friends." well i still think you have a certain something, not really sure what that is but i bet your boyfriend/girlfriend knows or are you still on the market? She couldn't help but laugh. "Boyfriend?" somehow she added a dirty twist to the simple word. She couldn't help but smirk a little. "The most action I get is when I get lifted in a routine.. most of the men I'm around, are either very gay or very into themselves. seriously, they're more into their reflections or how well.. endowed they look in their tights.." she smirked again, though she was being serious. "But seriously.. there is no one.. i travel too much to really get to serious, because well.. no one really enjoys those kind of relationships.." shit, time flies. my next appointment will be here in a few minutes. it was a pleasure to meet you! the fact that her interviewer just dropped a shit bomb, she smirked a little more. "such a pleasure." she said with a charming smile, but there was a twinge of sarcasm. |
